Rule Changes for MN QSO Party

Shortly after the conclusion of the Minnesota QSO Party this year, the MNQP committee reviewed a number of comments / suggestions from this year's participants. The comments were overwhelming positive which seems to coincide with the steady growth of MNQP year after year. Still, there are few a specific suggestions we get almost every year that we thought it was time to address. In implementing these changes, the committee felt is was important to not change the fundamental nature of MNQP nor did we want to significantly affect the integrity of the existing MNQP records. Most of the changes have to do with increasing SSB participation.

With this in mind, the rules for MNQP starting in 2011 have been modified as follows:
1. Phone QSO’s will now be worth 2 points, making them equal to CW and RTTY QSO’s.
2. A Phone Only Category for W/VE stations has been added.
3. The Canadian multipliers for Minnesota stations have been changed to match the Radio Amateurs of Canada Province and Territory list.
4. The multi-operator category has been changed to allow two transmitters.

That's it. See MNQP Rules for complete information.

We are doing this NOW so that we can work with the logging software companies to get these changes implemented well in advance of MNQP 2011 next February.
